The excellent RSPB reserve also adjoins Dovestone Park. A quiet tree lined private road takes you to the nearby village of Greenfield with shops and pubs. A little further and you are in Uppermill with its many stone buildings, larger range of shops, eateries, museum and the attractive canal with narrowboat trip options. One of just six houses in the parish of Gratton, Dale End House is found on a quiet lane between Elton and Youlgreave. It enjoys unspoilt countryside, popular with walkers and mountain bikers alike yet is only six miles from Bakewell and Matlock. Bed & Breakfast accommodation is available at The Lodge, a stone built former milking parlour set within the grounds of this fine Grade II listed Derbyshire long house. The Lodge has recently been loving restored to an exceptionally high standard. It has a large open plan lounge with sofa and TV, a dining area and shower room. Under floor heating throughout. The bedroom has an antique double bed with down duvet and feather pillows romantically lit by a crystal chandelier. Decorated throughout with fine furnishings and historical colours. Overlooking a courtyard with ducks, goats and chickens and a traditional 2 storey stable block on one side and open fields, sheep and a babbling brook on the other. There is ample parking and secure indoor space for bikes; with 4 stables you can even bring your horse! The Lodge is non-smoking. Obedient dogs are welcome for a small additional cost. Tea and coffee making facilities are available at all times. A locally sourced full English breakfast will be served in the dining area. We discovered the house whilst mountain biking through Gratton Dale and instantly fell in love with it. Discover our idyllic, Gold Award winning pretty country Church Farm Cottage and our fabulous 5 star Gold Award winning luxurious Ancestral Barn situated on our Organic Farm in Dovedale within the Peak District National Park. These lovingly restored cottages are situated in a truly unique position at the top of Hall Dale in Stanshope and therefore are ideally positioned for the Dovedale and Manifold Valleys. If you are looking for first class accommodation, surrounded by peaceful, stunning countryside then Church Farm is the place for you to get away from the demands of modern living! Church Farm Cottage originally formed part of our main farmhouse which is Grade II listed, dating from around the 16th century and was featured in the "Period Living and Traditional Home" magazine. It is full of character with many original features of interest. As you enter the main hall there is a stone flagged floor and beamed ceiling. To the left is a fitted kitchen/dining room, also with a beamed ceiling, a gritstone fireplace, window seat and a quarry-tiled floor. Off the hall is the second bathroom with a shower cubicle, hand basin and toilet. The L-shaped lounge has a full-beamed ceiling and sandstone fireplace, inset with an old black range for those cosy open fires. You will find many needlework pictures done by the owner, and hand worked embroidery.There are polished floorboards throughout, covered with richly coloured rugs, which add considerably to the charm and tradition. The main bedroom includes a king-size canopy bed and wonderful open views across the surrounding countryside. The second bedroom has two good-sized 3'6" single beds. Both bedrooms are decorated to a high standard. The main bathroom consists of a bath, hand basin and toilet. The cottage has a secure private cottage garden. Our ancestral barn infuses charm and character with beamed ceilings and panelled walls. This luxury barn is filled with antiques, has polished floors and richly coloured rugs. The lounge has a glorious open range fireplace and antique furniture. Three bedrooms (one accessible for the elderly or mobile disabled downstairs) feature splendid king-size canopy beds that are the very essence of comfort and luxury. All bedrooms have luxury en-suite bathrooms, two with showers, and the master bedroom has a roll top bath. Go on treat yourselves, just walk, talk, relax, and soak up the peace of our delightful countryside and return to laze around a roaring fire. We provide duvets, linen and towels. The cottage and barn both have oil-fired central heating and electricity included. This outstanding, large, luxury 5 star, Derbyshire self- catering cottage is located amidst a peaceful rural setting within 10 acres of private pastureland and landscaped gardens, with beautiful views over the valley and fields. Award winning holiday cottage in the heart of The Peak district National Park. Nestling in the conservation village of Hollinsclough, this beautiful barn conversion was renovated by the owners in 2000 and boasts all the charm and character of a stone cottage with all the conveniences of a modern home. The lounge is open to the eaves and there is a wood burning stove for added comfort. The dining kitchen is also open to the eaves and comes fully equipped including a pine table which seats six comfortably. Completing the downstairs is a twin bedroom and a cloakroom/WC. The main bathroom is upstairs next to the double bedroom. Outside there is plenty of off road parking. The pretty garden contains a barbeque and picnic bench which faces the little brook which flows through the garden on its way to joining the nearby River Dove. Hollinsclough is a delightful small village in the Upper Dove valley - there is wonderful scenery all around, and magnificent walking and cycling from the door. Smoke/pet free. Sleeps up to four in a double room and a twin room. Travel cot available. Lettings are Saturday to Saturday from £295 per week including fuel and linen.
